Operation Understanding Grants

The Operation Understanding Committee is now accepting grant requests for the Spring, 2013 grant cycle. The deadline for receiving grant applications is January 31, 2013.

Each request will be evaluated by the OU Committee members, and those selected will be awarded a grant based on anticipated income from the Alleluia Appeal which takes place during Eastertide, plus interest from the Bishop Stevenson fund. Top priority will be given to churches that support new projects, especially those that show strong commitments of time, talent, and treasure on the part of the parish making the grant request, and/or broad ecumenical support.

OU grants are given to parishes that house or are deeply involved in outreach ministries that provide food, shelter, energy assistance, and programs for disadvantaged children. The church with the most compelling and creative new outreach ministry will be given an award at this year’s Diocesan Convention.

Grant applications, cover sheets, questions to be answered in the applications, and guidelines are on the diocesan website. Applications and cover sheets must be sent by e-mail to Nancy Forgang. If you have questions regarding OU grants, you may call Nancy at 717-630-0220.
