From The Rev. Canon Stephen C, Casey – Chair, Nominating Committee

To all clergy and lay leaders: The Nominating Committee of the Diocese is still seeking nominations, both lay and clergy, for the Council of Trustees, Standing Committee, and Disciplinary Board. I encourage clergy and lay leaders to prayerfully consider placing their names forward to serve the diocese on one of these commissions.

Ordination of New Deacons Announced

Pending the completion of certain canonical requirements, The Right Reverend Nathan D. Baxter, Bishop of the Diocese of Central Pennsylvania, will ordain the following three ordinands to the Sacred Order of Deacons on Sunday, April 22, 2012, 5 p.m., at St. Stephen's Episcopal Cathedral, Harrisburg.

Mr. Pete Gdula, St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Mechanicsburg
Mrs. Wanda Kloza, St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Shippensburg
Mr. Henry McQueen, St James Episcopal Church, Lancaster

Convocation Assembly Meetings

Spring Convocation Assembly Meetings will be held on the following dates:

April 18 - West Branch & Northern Tier - St. Paul's, Wellsboro; meeting at 6 p.m., light refreshments served.

April 19 - Altoona & Susquehanna – St. Andrew’s, Lewisburg; dinner at 6 p.m., meeting to follow.

April 25 - Harrisburg, Lancaster & Southern - Memorial Church of the Prince of Peace, Gettysburg; meeting begins at 7 p.m.

Who is to attend: Representation is to include all clergy canonically resident or serving parishes in the convocation and three lay delegates from each parish, with at least one lay delegate from each parish who has served as a delegate at the last diocesan convention. The nature of parish representation in the canons points out an expectation that delegates to diocesan convention are chosen not only to represent the parish at the time of convention itself, but that delegates also have a responsibility for helping to carry out decisions made by convention. The thought is that as "partners in Christ" we need to have individuals who both formulate decisions (from convention) as well as help implement them in local regions.
