Bishop Rodney Michel to serve as Convention Chaplain

Rodney MichelThe Diocese of Central Pennsylvania welcomes Bishop Rodney Michel as our chaplain to Convention 2012. Bishop Baxter says, "I think he is an extraordinary pastoral Bishop and has demonstrated his pastoral leadership in several dioceses. We are delighted to have him join us." A native of Nebraska and a graduate of Seabury–Western Theological Seminary, Bishop Michel has served as assisting bishop in the Diocese of Georgia and the Diocese of Maryland. Throughout his career, Bishop Michel served parishes in the dioceses of Nebraska, North Dakota and Long Island.

Special invitation from Standing Committee

This year, as is called for by the Letter of Agreement with Bishop Baxter, the Standing Committee arranged for a Mutual Ministry Review (perhaps better called the  Diocesan Effectiveness Review).  This has been a helpful way for us all to take a step back, look at ways we are functioning well as a diocese and consider ways we might improve our efforts toward bringing forth and living out the Kingdom of God here in Central Pennsylvania.

On Friday evening of Convention 2012, June 8, please join us from 6 -7 p.m. in the ballroom of the Ramada for an overview of where we were years ago as a diocese and where we are now – your suggestions, opinions and comments are welcome. For additional information email the Rev. Daphne Messersmith.

Necrology request for Convention 2012

We want to give thanks for the life and witness of those who have served in past conventions as officers or delegates, or who have served on Bishops' Commissions and have died since June 2011.

You are invited to send names of who you want to have remembered at Convention 2012. Download the form here.

2011 annual reports to convention and convention resolutions are available for review.

The proposed 2013 Diocesan Budget is now available for review.
